Phoenix - User Help

Cents

Under the View menu, the Cents option allows the user to determine whether cents will be displayed in the budget.  A tick against Cents in the menu indicated that cents will be displayed. Just click on cents on the menu to place or remove the tick (and hence the cents).

Note that when cents are removed, it is only a display effect. Phoenix still calculates the budget to the cent. This means that it is possible that certain arithmetic on the screen may appear to be incorrect.  Consider the following;

Cents

Rounded

4.45

4

17.30

17

0.38

0

------------
22.13

------------
22

The rounded column actually adds to 21, but since the underlying data adds to 22.13, Phoenix, with cents turned off, would display the correct result rounded (22) and would thus appear to be arithmetically wrong.

The hiding or revealing of cents does not effect the default width allowed for data in the budget. Thus, with cents hidden, larger numbers can be comfortably displayed on the budget.

Zeros

Under the View menu, the Zeros option allows the user to determine whether categories that have no data in them will be displayed in the budget.  A tick against Zeros in the menu indicated that unused categories will be displayed. Just click on zeros on the menu to place or remove the tick (and hence the unused categories).
