Phoenix 9 - User Help

Classes will be used to group common animals. This may be separating by sex and age or in a feedlot situation might be by pen or lot grouping. Again this is entirely up to you and how best to manage your operation.

To setup Classes:

There are two extra setup items in Setup Animal Classes if you are also running the Grazing module; Feed Demand unit and Colour/Pattern.

Feed Demand unit is the unit used to quantify an animal’s feed intake (LSU, DSE, etc).

The colour/pattern you have set for Animal Types will be the default for all Classes belonging to each Animal Type. You may edit this colour/pattern so as to differentiate Classes by colour and pattern in the Grazing Chart. These can be completely new colours and patterns or kept the same as the Animal Type. Another option is to keep the colour the same as Animal Type but use patterns to differentiate between classes i.e. Blue base colour of the Animal Type and Cross-hatch to denote the class.

To set the feed demand unit, colour and pattern for Classes:

Click Setup on the pulldown menu and select Animal Classes.

setup_animal_class_w_grazing_v8

Select a Class in the left hand panel and its details will display on the right.

Click btn_drop_down_v8 in the Feed Demand Unit field and select the desired feed demand unit from the dropdown list. NB: If your preferred unit is not in the list, you can create the unit in Setup Units.

If you wish to change the colour, click the Colour button, select a colour to represent this Class and click OK.

If you wish to change the pattern, click btn_drop_down_v8 in the Pattern field and select the desired pattern from the dropdown list.

When finished, click Save.

Repeat these steps for each Class.
