Phoenix - User Help

Most current model hand-held GPS units support GPX file format for data transfer to and from the unit.

To import a GPX file from a GPS unit:

Plug the GPS unit in to the PC

In Phoenix, click the GPS drop-down menu > Import GPX File

Browse to the GPS unit for the appropriate GPX file (refer to the GPS manual as to where the appropriate GPX file/s are located if not immediately apparent)

Select the GPX file and click Open

GPX files are stored on the GPS just like a USB memory device stores files. If the GPS unit is not in the same location as Phoenix Mapping, then you will need to find the GPX file on the GPS unit, copy it and either email or save locally to then be taken to the PC that has Phoenix Mapping.

Also, GPX files can also be generated from other sources other than GPS units, such as apps. In these instances, follow the steps outlined above only this time browsing to where the GPX file is located. You may first need to export the GPX file in the instance of apps.
