Phoenix Mapping supports earlier models of the Garmin hand-held series - before Garmin adopted the GPX format. The most common units are the 60 and later 76 series.
To utilise the Garmin protocol, first install the drivers for the GPS. Once the drivers are installed and to confirm the GPS is communicating with Phoenix Mapping:
•Plug GPS in and turn on
•In Phoenix Mapping click the GPS drop-down menu, Legacy Garmin GPS then select View Connected Info
A window will appear confirming make and model of GPS as well as the version of the firmware.
